Puducherry, June 27(UNI) Tension prevailed in different parts of Puducherry and Thattanchavady constituency as a mob forced shop keepers to down shutters, following rumours that Chief Minister N Rangasamy was asked to step down by the Congress High Command.
People in Thattanchavady constituency gathered at several places, including the Chief Minsiter's residence. Police had to use force to disperse them. In one or two places in the Constituency, traffic on the roads was blocked. A group of persons moving around in a vehicle, indulged in stone pelting, damaging a bus and a car.
Mr Rangasamy's supporters also entered into an arguement with PCC(I) President A V Subramanian at his office.
Heavy police pickets were posted in the town to maintain law and order.
