Most states ''favour'' reservation for poor upper castes
Raipur, June 27 (UNI) National Commission for Economically-Backward Classes Chairman S R Sinho today said that most state governments favoured 10-14 per cent reservation in government jobs for financially-deprived upper castes.
''The eight states I have toured thus far -- including Chhattisgarh -- favour such reservation but differ over the eligibility criteria and income limit,'' Mr Sinho, who is on a three-day visit to the state along with Commission members, said at a press conference here.
Mentioning that every state would be toured, he added that he would endeavour to submit his report by this year's end after consulting experts.
