Mild to moderate tremors rattle Chennites

Chennai, Jun 27 (UNI) Mild to moderate tremo rs were felt in several parts of the city following an earthquake in Andaman Islands with a magnitude of 6.1 on the Richter scale this evening.

People living in Nungambakkam, Vadapalani, Annanagar and Koyambedu areas felt the aftershocks and rushed out of their houses.

However, no casualty or damage to properties were reported in the affected areas.

When contacted, Met officials said the tremors were felt in the impact of the earthquake that occurred at Andaman at Latitude 11 North (ISC) and Longitude 91.0 East at 1710 hrs IST.
