Licences of 31 PDS dealers cancelled
Chandigarh, June 27 (UNI) The Haryana Food and Supplies Department has cancelled licences of 31 PDS dealers and one case has been registered with the police for indulging in malpractices in the distribution of essential commodities to the people.
Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan today said the security of 156 dealers was forefeited and goods valuing Rs 1.16 lakh were seized from them.
He said that till the end of April, 2008, as many as 9550 fair price shops were functioning in the state, 2676 in the urban areas and 6857 in rural areas, for the convenience of the people.
Of these, 99 were functioning near industrial units, schools and hostels so that the industrial workers and students do not face any problem in getting essential commodities at reasonable rates.
