K'taka food industry needs separate ministry: FKCCI
Bangalore, June 27 (UNI) Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) today urged the state government to set up a separate ministry for promoting the growth of agro food processing industry in the state.
FKCCI President S S Patil, in his address at the annual general body meeting of the Chamber here, said the state had a better scope for food processing in the districts like Bagalkot, Bijpaur, Belgaum, Chikkamagalur and Shimoga.
The state was better placed in comparision with other states in the country, he added.
A separate ministry would help the food processing industry to face the competetive world in a better way, he said.
Karnataka Cooperation Minister Laxman Savadi, who was a Chief guest at the meeting, said the stae government would make every efforts to attract investors to the state.
He said the government would hold a meeting tomorrow in connection with the infrastructure development of Bangalore as its growth was linked with development of the state.
