Karnataka Governor condoles death of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw

Bangalore, Jun 27 (UNI) Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur today condoled the death of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw who died in the military hospital at Wellington last night.

In his message he said, ''I am distressed to learn about the sad demise of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw.'' Field Marshal Manekshaw's services to the country are unforgettable as he served the military during a period which created history.

''He was a courageous, upright and intelligent officer whose imaginative handling of the affairs of the military earned him the highest Defence decoration,'' he said.
