Geelani, Shabir, others still under house arrest in Kashmir
Srinagar, Jun 27 (UNI) Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Chairman of the breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC) and Shabir Ahmad Shah still remained under house arrest for the fourth day today as precautionary measure, official sources said.
A number of other separatist leaders also remained under house arrest from early this morning.
A spokesperson of the HC said Mr Geelani remained under house arrest since June 23 mid-night.
He said a large number of police personnel remained deployed outside his Hyderpora residence and he was not being allowed to leave his house.
Mr Geelani has been informed that he cannot leave his house untill further orders, the spokesperson informed.
Mr Geelani was scheduled to lead a procession from Naqashband sahib shrine in the down town city against the transfer of forest land to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) by the government.
Senior leader of both the factions of the HC also remained under house arrest to prevent them from joining demonstrations against transfer of forest land to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) and police action on peaceful processionists.
