Farmer mauled by bear in TN village
Theni, Tamil Nadu, Jun 27 (UNI) A 45-year-old farmer was mauled by a bear in his farm at Paaluthu village near Andipatti today.
Police said Kaliayappan, who went to his farm for routine work was attacked by a wild bear, which was wandering in the farmland.
The animal pounced on the farmer but he managed to escape.
The bear fled into the nearby jungles, police added.
The farmer, who was grievously injured, was admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital here.
Forest Department sources said the bear might have sneaked into the farm from the jungle in search of food.
