Bridge construction: BJP delegation calls on Gov
Puducherry, Jun 27: The BJP in Puducherry sought the intervention of Lt Governor Bhopinder Singh for the completion of a bridge across Ariyankuppam river.
A delegation led by party national council member Swaminathan and Ariyankuppam constituency leader Ramu, called on Bhopinder Singh at the Rajnivas and submitted a memorandum in this regard.
They pointed out that the construction of the bridge, started in 2005 was to have been completed in one year. However, the contractor abondoned the work due to huge expenses incurred following the submerging of the concrete wells erected one after another.
Since, the present old bridge was very narrow and weak, traffic congestion was being experienced, they said and urged Mr Singh to take immediate steps to ensure that the work was completed soon.
