Advani to launch election campaign from Rourkela
Rourkela, Jun 27 (UNI) BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate L K Advani will launch election campaign from the steel city here on June 29 with addressing a public meeting at Bisra Maidan, party's Orissa unit president Suresh Pujari said here today.
Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will also share the platform and address the meeting.
Mr Advani will also address the concluding session of the two-day state BJP working committee, which would discuss the details of the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
Mr Pujari claimed that the BJP-BJD alliance under the leadership of Mr Patnaik would do much better compared to last election in the upcoming Assembly polls.
The party during its two-day working committee meeting, would discuss the election strategy and possible candidates to contest the election.
The BJP president said this time serious efforts would be made to ensure a landslide victory for the BJD-BJP combine as it had lost many seats by a thin margin in the last election.
The working committee, he said, would possibly finalise the candidates considering their winning prospects.
Mr Pujari said the delimitation of the constituencies had affected almost 141 of total 147 Assembly constituencies and all 21 Parliament seats, which required discussion for selecting proper candidates.
To a question, Mr Pujari denied any negligence to Western Orissa districts by the BJD-BJP government, saying the government had provided Rs 100 crore to Western Orissa Development Council (WODC).
This apart, steps were taken to set-up many industries in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Kalahandi districts in this region, he said Referring to issue of granting mining lease of Gandhamardhan hill in Bargarh district and Khandadhar in Sundargarh to private companies, the BJP president said the state government should take people into confidence before taking such decision on the matter.
