5 robbers active in UPSRTC buses held
Jaunpur, Jun 27 (UNI) Police today claimed to have arrested five members of a robbers syndicate, which mostly targetted Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) bus passengers, here.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Chandra Prakash here said ''in a joint encounter with the Special Operation Group (SOG) of state police, five people of the gang were apprehended near a college in Baksa area late yesterday.'' The arrested were Vinod Maurya, Ajay Kumar, Vipin Singh, Rakesh Yadav and Vinay Tiwari.
Two of their aides, however, managed to escape, the SP added.
Meanwhile, the police team has been awarded with Rs 2,500.
