3 arrested on charges of extortion
Mumbai, Jun 27 (UNI) The city police today arrested three people for allegedly extorting money from shop-keepers of Sara and Sara shopping centre in south Mumbai, by using the name of underworld gangster Chhota Shakeel, an associate of the fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim.
Zone I DCP Vishwas Nagre Patil, while addressing mediapersons here, said that the trio was arrested on the basis of a complaint made by the shop-keepers, who were allegedly harassed by them.
On February 21 this year, the trio had allegedly attacked Shabbir Abdul Shaikh, an owner of a communcation centre in Sara and Sara shopping centre, with choppers and knives, he said.
The trio, who have been identified as Kaif Ayub Shaikh, Babloo Rizwan Ahmed and Sadiq Iqbal Qureishi, will be produced in the court tomorrow, he added.
