15 per cent water cut in city from July 1

Mumbai, Jun 27 (UNI) With the rains playing truant for last 15 days, The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has been compelled to enforce a 15 per cent water cut in the Metropolis from July 1.

Addressing reporters here today, Municipal Commissioner Jairaj Phatak said Mumbai needs 3350 ML water, which is supplied by Tulsi, Vihar, Tansa, Modak Sagar, Upper Vaitarna and Bhatsa Lakes.

''Since Mumbai did not receive rains from June 11, water from the reserved quota is being used, Hence, the water cut,'' said Mr Phatak.
