Two held with 1 lakh counterfeit currency
Jaunpur, Jun 26: Police arrested two people and seized counterfeit currencies worth Rs one lakh from them in Jalalpur area late last night, police said today.
Over suspicion, police frisked two men and recovered 180 and 10 fake notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 respectively.
The alleged the culprits were identified as Shahanshah of Varanasi and Tanvir alias Guddu of this district, police superintendent Chandra Prakash said.
They used to bring counterfeit currencies from the neighbouring country, Nepal.
Mr Prakash said soon the kingpin of the gang would be arrested.
He apprised that these smugglers would be booked under the National Security Act (NSA).
The SP has also announced a reward of Rs 2,500 for the police team for their good work.
