Suspended CID-DSP held
Pune, Jun 26 (UNI) Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Pune arrested suspended Deputy Superintendent of Police Vitthal Shinde of the State Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for his alleged misuse of authority by not paying for an air ticket of former CID Chief and Present City Police Commissioner Jayant Umranikar to a travel agent in 2006.
The ACB had registered a case against Shinde and former CID Assistant Police Inspector, Ghanasham Palange, with the Bund Garden Police, under sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act on June 16. The matter came up for hearing before Special Judge R Y Sheikh yesterday.
Shinde's lawyer Sudhir Shah said they had moved an anticipatory bail application but as it was getting clear that the court was not giving relief to Shinde with the Public Prosecutor Ujjawala Pawar not being able to file a statement on providing interim relief due to another preoccupation, Shinde decided to surrender before the ACB, Mr Shah said.
