Sloth bear mauls tribal

Baripada, Jun 26 (UNI) A 40 year old tribal was killed by a sloth bear on Monday, forest official sources here today said.

Sources said one Pandu Tudu of Budikham-ari-village, about 65 km from here under Manda forest range of Mayurbhanj, was passing through the fringe of a forest path when the animal attacked him, and disembowelled the victim's intestine.

The man died on the spot. Locals have demanded a compensation of Rs one lakh to the next of kins of the deceased tribal.
