Presidential gesture: Secretary celebrates b'day on board

New Delhi, June 26 (UNI) President Pratibha Devisingh Patil today made a nice gesture, helping her Secretary, Christy Fernandez, celebrate his birthday on board the special Delhi-Mumbai flight.

Ms Patil had taken the initiative to arrange for a cake which Mr Fernadez cut on the flight in the presence of the President and her officials, Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson Archana Dutta said.

This was not the first time she had displayed her interest in making her personal staff happy through such small but significant niceties. Recently, she made her Aid-de-Camp Shiv Shankar cut a cake on his birthday when she was visiting Shimla.

There have been several other instances when Ms Patil had shown her affection to those working in Rashtrapati Bhavan, the spokesperson said.

The President is on a five-day tour of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh from today.
