Mooshahary to be new Meghalaya Governor
Shillong, Jun 26: Former Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF) Ranjit Singh Mooshahary will be taking over as the Meghalaya Governor, official sources said here today.
Mr Mooshahary, a 1967 batch IPS officer who retired as BSF chief, will replace Manipur Governor S S Sidhu, who is also holding the dual charge of Meghalaya for the past nine months.
The Union Home Ministry and Prime Minister's Office cleared Mr Mooshahary's name for the gubernatorial post after consultation with Meghalaya Chief Minister Donkupar Roy.
The Centre is waiting President Pratibha Patil's approval.
The Meghalaya Raj Bhavan has not had a permanent incumbent since B L Joshi was transferred to Uttaranchal. Dr S S Sidhu has been serving as Governor for the interim period.
