Kidney racket accused remanded in judicial custody till June 30
Mumbai, Jun 26 (UNI) A local court today remanded Dr Santosh Raut alias Amit Kumar, prime accused in the kidney transplant racket, and his brother Jivan Kumar in judicial custody till June 30.
The duo was brought here by the city police on June 16 from Ambala in connection with a complaint lodged against them with the Mahim police station three years back.
Advocate Ratnakar Singh, who was representing the doctors, told that in 2005, Mumbai resident Srinivash Rammulla had lodged a complaint with the Mahim police station, alleging that he was cheated by an agent who had taken him to Delhi with a promise to pay him a good amount for one of his kidneys.
A metropolitan magistrate's court had issued a production warrant against Dr Amit, Dr Jivan and their accomplice Upender in 2005 on charges of removing the kidney of the complainant the same year.
