Harcore criminal escapes police captivity

Sultanpur, June 26 (UNI) A hardcore criminal today escaped from the police captivity while being taken for hearing in a civil court of this district.

The absconder had many criminal cases pending against him in Sultanpur and Jaunpur district.

Narendra Singh alias Riku was held from Chanda area here in March for keeping psycotropic substance with him, SSP (east) Santosh Kumar Singh said.

He was to be produced before Assistant Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) III court here, where he hoodwinked the police constable and fled the scene, Mr Singh added.

According to police, the criminal got a chance to escape, when the police constable Kauslendra Chandra left him alone in the court and went to make a telephone call.

Later, the matter and laxity of the constable was reported to the senior officials over which Kaushlendra was suspended with immediate effect and later arrested.

Police was conducting raids at probable locations to trace the absconder, besides, alerting nearby district's police.
