GAIL looks for inclusive growth of NE
Shali, Itanagar, Jun 26 (UNI) Focussing on inclusive growth of the North-Eastern region, Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) has contributed Rs 1.90 crore to the region in the last fiscal under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Chief Manager, GAIL, Rashmi Shali, who arrived at Doimukh along with Deputy General Manager Sanjeev Medhi this morning to formally hand over the keys of two vehicles donated to Central Nyader Namlo (a religious institution) under CSR, said the Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) was trying to make inroads in the region through its various projects.
Later talking to reporters, she informed that GAIL, an offshoot of ONGC, had identified seven thrust areas of development under CSR, including healthcare, education and environment.
Mr Medhi informed that the PSU had initiated CNG projects in different parts of the country, including Tripura in Northeast.
Moreover, the Gas Cracker project at Lepetkatta in Assam's Dibrugarh district was a major project in the region undertaken by GAIL, he said.
Stating that so far the Centre had not provided any block in the region for exploration of gas resources, Mr Medhi informed that the PSU had been executing exploration works in various parts of the country after due permission from the Central government.
