CPI(ML) protests over Maya's ''anti-democratic policies''

Lucknow, June 26 (UNI) Communist Party of India (Marxist&Leninist) today staged state-wide agitation over alleged anti-democratic policies of the Uttar Pradesh government and its inability to curtail price rise of essential commodities.

The CPI(ML) workers congregated in front of the Vidhan Sabha here and staged demonstration and said general public is suffering the most in the present BSP regime as sky-rocketing prices have broken the back bone of the people.

Blaming UPA government for the increasing inflation, the CPI(ML) workers said UP Chief Minister Mayawati was unwilling to reduce tax burden and thus, is equally responsible for the dismal state of the poor public.

Later, they handed over a memorandum to the UP governor T V Rajeswar.

Besides the state capital, the party agitated against the same issues in several districts of UP, including Moradabad, Chanduali, Mirzapur, Sonebhadra, Ghazipur, Ballia, Mau, Lakhimpur Kheri, Pilibhit and Jalaun.

Expressing concern over the increasing inflation the CPI (ML) charged the Mayawati-led BSP government of ''weakening'' the democratic setup and said the UP Chief Minister was framing the opposition party leaders especially CPI (ML) in fake cases.

In the memorandum, the CPI (ML) leaders have alleged that Mayawati was plotting against them under political vendetta and demanded the governor to stop their harassment in the hands of present state government.
