Court rejects petition for staying RS election
Patna, Jun 26 (UNI) Patna High Court today rejected a petition seeking stay on the polling for the Rajya Sabha(RS) election held for the single seat here during the day.
While hearing the petition of RJD leader and former MP Captain Jay Narayan Nishad, Justice Ajay Kumar Tripathi refused to stay the polling.
Through an interlocutory petition Mr Nishad had requested the court to stay the polling till his original petition challenging his disqualification from the Upper House was disposed of.
The Upper House had disqualified Mr Nishad who was elected to the RS as a BJP candidate but later joined the RJD.
