Court order criminal case against Scribe

Madikeri, Jun 26: The Fast Track Court Judge directed the police to register criminal case against an electronic media journalist and his friend for reversing their statements in an assault case.

The Fast Track Court at Virajpet directed registering criminal case against a channel journalist Sridar Nellithaya and his friend Daya Chengappa.

Nellithaya had filed a case against one Bopanna alleging that he (Bellithaya) was assaulted by him (Bopanna) and Mr Chengappa supported his statement at the witness box. However, the duo changed their stand at the final stage by stating that they cannot identify the accused and they do not know who the accused was.

The court passed a judgment yesterday and convicted the accused on the charges of attacking a journalist.

The Judge reserved sentence verdict by saying that the duo giving dual statement would also be punished.
