Madikeri Municipality to ban plastic
Madikeri Jun 26: The newly elected City Municipal Council President P D Ponnappa said that use of plastic would be banned in the city and measures would be taken to maintain cleanliness in the City.
He said that the city was being flooded with tourists and hence his priority would be to look into the aspect of cleanliness.
He said that he would hold talks with the officials and councilors to strictly ban use of plastic. Hospitals and Hotels will also be instructed to look into the aspect of cleanliness, he said.
Drinking water, street light and repairing the roads are his next priority.
Replying to a query about the long pending proposal to shift the congested private bus stand, Ponnappa said that he will shift the bus stand to a suitable place with the support of the MLAs.
