BJP leaders review pre-poll scenario
New Delhi, Jun 26 (UNI) Top BJP leaders today held a meeting here this morning to finalise the candidates for the next Lok Sabha elections and review the poll preparation in the states going to polls in 2008.
The meeting presided over by BJP President Rajnath Singh was attended by the Election Committee members including BJP's Prime Ministerial nominee L K Advani and senior party leaders Murli Manohar Joshi, M Venkaiah Naidu and Sushma Swaraj.
The party has finalised nearly 160 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections and finalising their names would offer them an opportunity to carry on the ground work in their respective constituences for gaining head start ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, party sources said.
The party is also likely to take stock of the latest political developments in the UPA where the UPA and its supporting parties are having problems in public over the Indo-US nuclear deal.
