7 booked under MRTP for encroachment on govt land
Mumbai, June 26 (UNI) Seven people have been booked on charges of encroachment on government land, under Mumbai Regional Town Planning (MRTP) Act in the city's N ward of Ghatkopar.
About 144 encroachments have been removed between May 2003 to May 2008 in the area, a press release issued by the Municipal corporation said.
According to the release, the government had constructed ''pucca'' houses for those affected by land slide in Azadnagar slums on July 7, 2000, when 72 people were killed and 13 injured.
The remaining government land was encroached by the locals time and again, it said.
The corporation has registered cases against, Noor Mohammed Akbarlala, Rabiya Shaikh, Shrimati Badhki, Samsher Khan Munna, M Anwar, Barkat Ali and Babu Cablewala, the release added.
