2 gangsters killed in encounter, PI injured
Mumbai, Jun 26 (UNI) Two gangsters, owing allegiance to the Ravi Pujari gang, were gunned down by the anti-terrorist squad of the Mumbai police and a police inspector was injured in the encounter today at Andheri here.
On receiving a tip-off, the police team led by Vijay Salaskar intercepted the gangsters this evening and asked them to surrender.
However, the duo opened fire at them and in the retaliatory firing the gangsters were killed.
PI Nitin Alaknure was injured in the encounter and has been rushed to a hospital, police sources said.
One of the gangsters, Sunil Bangera, had many cases of extortion and robbery pending against him.
