Wildlife intelligence office to curb hunting
Jabalpur, June 25 (UNI) In order to check illegal wildlife hunting in Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Orissa, a wildlife intelligence office was set up here on Centre's initiative, official sources said today.
''This office would gather secret information about anti-wildlife activities and effective action would be ensured against the culprits,'' said Divisional Commissioner Prabhat Parashar at a meeting of task force, which was constituted to check deforestation and encroachment on forest land, yesterday.
He said two senior officers had already been posted in this office here.
''With the Centre's cooperation a Wildlife Health and Forensic Centre would be set up here and in this regard a proposal to the tune of Rs 79.26 lakh was sent to the Centre,'' he added.
