SER business rises to 12 per cent
Kolkata, Jun 25 (UNI) South Eastern Railway business increased to 12 per cent at Rs 5444 crore for FY7-8 comapred to last corresponding period.
Announcing this, General Manager A K Jain told a Zonal Rail Users' Consultaive Committee mmeting in Ranchi today that the SER had carried 111 million ton of revenue earning loads in the last fiscal.
In the first two months of the current fiscal, May and April, it haD carried about 20 million ton freight, two million ton more than last fiscal period, resulting in an earning of Rs 1139 crore, which was Rs 297 crore higher than the corresponding period last year, a growth of 35 per cent.
The SER had carried 186 million passengers in last fiscal, which was four per cent more than last corresponding and generated Rs 721 crore, about 12 per cent more than the last fiscal.
The SER had made the lowest operating ratio of 54.38 per cent in 2007-08.
In the first two months of this fiscal, the SER had carried 33 million passengers, which was three per cent more than the corresponding period of last year, and generated an earning of Rs 133 crore from passenger traffic, registering a growth of about five per cent in comparison with the corresponding period last year.
