Prez Patil to inaugurate international conference tomorrow
Mumbai, Jun 25 (UNI) President Pratibha Devisingh Patil will inaugurate an international conference on ''Responsibility to the Future: Business, Peace and Sustainability'' at the Convocation Hall of Mumbai University's Fort campus here tomorrow.
The objective of the conference is to explore solutions to economic growth, peace and sustainability, an official release said here today.
The three-day conference will bring together more than 200 experts from 25 countries and different parts of the country to the city.
There would be an array of 50 speakers from all continents including Dr Michael Nobel (Chairman of Nobel Charitable Trusts), Dr Monty Jones (World Food Prize laureate and inventor of a new strain of rice), Dr Poul Engberg Pedersen (eminent economist and head of Norway's Agency for Development Corporation) and Prof Lou Marinoff (eminent American philosopher and author of several books).
The organising committee chairman Kumar Ketkar said the conference aimed to explore linkage between the challenges of poverty mitigation, reduction of climate risk and peace, the release added.
