Amarnath yatra: One pilgrim dead, six injured

Jammu, Jun 25: One pilgrim was killed and six injured when an c-bound light motor vehicle today rolled down into a 200-feet gorge near Kella Morh on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Ramban, police said.

The accident occurred when the driver, carrying six passengers from Amritsar (Western Punjab district), failed to negotiate a curve at around 0700 hrs. One Ramesh Kumar(50), son of one Chunni Lal, died on the spot while other passengers, including the driver, received critical injuries. The injured were identified as Anil Kumar(33), Shashi Bhushan(35), Tersem Kumar, Pawan Kumar(35), Vijay Kumar and driver Nishan Singh(24). The Road Opening Party (ROP) of Army and police conducted rescue operation and shifted all the injured to the nearby hospital from where they were referred to the government medical college and hospital, Jammu.
