'No work no pay' invoked to deal with powermen strike on June 27
Chandigarh, Jun 25 (UNI) The Chandigarh Administration has decided to invoke the principle of ''no work no pay'' to deal with the proposed strike by powermen in the Union Territory on June 27.
The UT Powermen Union has given a call for ''pen down/tool down'' strike on Friday in the wake of non-acceptance of their pending demands by the administration.
The principle of ''no work no pay'' would be strictly enforced, official sources said, adding the Chandigarh Administration had always been sympathetic to the genuine demands of Electricity employees and there was no cause for any strike by them.
The employees are advised to attend to their duties. The defaulting employees will also be liable for other disciplinary action under the ESMA, the sources added.
The sources said though necessary arrangements for maintaining the power supply had been made, chances of failure of power supply due to the strike could not be ruled out.
The electricity bills with the last date of payment on June 27 would be extended to the next working day, that is June 30, in the event of strike.
