Minutes before death, IUML president slams nuclear deal
New Delhi, Jun 25 (UNI) Indian Union Muslim League president G M Banatwallah, who died in Mumbai today, had slamed the Indo-US nulcear deal by claiming that it was not acceptable in its present form.
In a statement issed half-an-hour before his demise, Banathwallah described the the Bush administration as imperialist and asked the COngress to reconsider its views on the deal.
The veteran Muslim League leader who arrived in Mumbai from Chennai yesterday complained of chest pain in the afternoon and breathed his last at a private hospital.
Banatwala, who was born on August 15,1933 was a senior parliamentarian having won seven terms to the Lok Sabha from Ponnani in Malappuram district of Kerala.
