Kathmandu, June 25 : The Maoists have said that they are ready to form government through a floor test in the Constituent Assembly (CA) if its efforts to keep the Seven Party Alliance (SPA) alive do not bear fruit.

According to Nepalnews, the Central Secretariat meeting of the Maoists, which held on Tuesday, concluded that the party would form the government through the floor test.

Maoist leaders said that they thought it is necessary to maintain unity among the seven parties who have worked together for the peace process. But they also decided to explore other options to end the political deadlock.

After the Maoists joined hands with the Unified Marxist Leninist (UML) to back each other's candidate for the post of the Prime Minister and the President, the Nepali Congress (NC) announced that it would stay in the opposition.

Meanwhile, the Nepali Congress has bagged clear support from the Madheshi political parties including the Madhesi People's Rights Forum (MPRF), the Tarai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP) and the Sadbhawana Party (SP) on the issue of the composition of the National Security Council.

During a meeting with the Nepali Congress, the Madheshi parties pledged their support.

"Taking into consideration the fact that the leader of the rebel armies is going to lead the future government, we did not take otherwise the claim for opposition leaders' position in the council," said TMDP leader Hridayesh Tripathi.

The Madhesi parties also criticized the big parties for wrangling over positions that went beyond principles.
