Government Women College sanctioned for Rewari
Chandigarh, Jun 25 (UNI) Haryana PWD and Irrigation Minister Ajay Singh Yadav today said a Government Women College had been sanctioned by the state government at Rewari which was being constructed at a cost of Rs 10 crore.
The classes in the college would commence from academic session 2008-09, Capt Yadav said.
''The credit for setting up of this Women College and giving it practical shape goes to Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda,'' he said.
Capt Yadav reminded that when Ms Gandhi had visited Rewari in October, 2007, he had urged her to set up a Government Women College to give impetus to the girls education in the area.
The PWD Minister said that he had also raised the demand of opening a Women College on January 25 before the Chief Minister when he visited to inaugurate Gymkhana Club, Rewari. He expressed gratitute to the Chief Minister that he had not only accepted the demand but directed the Education department authorities to commence the classes from the ensuing session.
