Garment shopowner remanded in judicial custody
Barrackpore, Jun 35 (UNI) Subdivisional Judicial court here in North 24 Parganas today remanded Narayan Saha, owner of the Readymade Garment Centre of Sodepur under Khardah police station, in judicial custody till June 30.
The shop was burnt on May 16 and 13 people lost their lives.
Mr Saha was produced before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate in-charge here this afternoon after his arrest from the Appolo Gleneagles Hospital in the city's eastern outskirt, where he was admitted after he sustained burn unjuries.
A five-member CID team brought him from the hospital soon after he was released today.
The court had, however, directed the Barrackpore sub-correctional centre to keep him under medical treatment.
At least 38 people fell sick, some of them seriously, while 13 people lost their lives as fire broke out from a welding spark.
The Magistrate ordered police to produce the case diary when the accused, Mr Saha, was arrested registering a case under Section 285 and 304 of the Indian Penal Code.
