Fresh movement for Kamtapur state announced
Siliguri, Jun 25 (UNI) The Greater Kamta United Forum, a three-party platform demanding separate Kamtapur state comprising North Bengal and parts of Assam, today announced a series of agitational programmes to intensify the movement.
GKUF's president Atul Roy, who is also chief of Kamtapur Progressive Party, said they have adopted a resolution today for intensfying the agitation for Kamtapur state comprising six North Bengal districts and 11 districts from Assam.
The agitations include rallies, highway blockade and rail roko would be organised at different districts of North Bengal from July 6 onwards till August.
He said JMM president Shibu Soren and his GJM counterpart Bimal Gurung would also address GKUF's two meetings on demand of Kamtapur state. The meetings would be held at Raigunge on August 17 and at Jalpaiguri on the following day.
Two other partners of the forum Greater Coochbehar Democratic Party and All Assam Kamtapuri Students Union, had taken part in the meeting held in Coochbehar.
