Four SVM students figure in HSc top ten list

Bhubaneswar, Jun 25 (UNI) Four students of the Saraswati Vidya Mandir Berhampur figured in the top ten list of the annual High School Certificate Examination, conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Orissa, the results of which were declared today.

The four students were Bimal Prasad Panda, who topped the list securing 761 marks out of 800, Mr Debashis Patnaik (fourth position), Mr Ashutosh Maharana (6th) and Mr Debasis Nayak, who secured the 10th position.

Mr Omkar Mishra of Saraswati Vidya Mandir Barmunda and Ms Sonali Acharya of Sarswati Sishu Mandir Cuttack secured the second position with 758 marks and Mr Sudesh Gourav of Secondary Board High School Cuttack stood third with 757 mark.

As many as 22 students figured in the top ten list in this year exam. A total of 3,14,442 regular and 53,256 ex-regular students appeared for the annual examination held in March last.

School and Mass Education Minister Sanjvee Sahoo told newspersons here today that this year 53.14 per cent of the regular students and 44.86 per cent of the ex-regular students have also cleared the examination.

While 27,968 passed in first division, 62,946 got second division and 91,883 third division.

He said this year the result in 73 schools was zero and the government was contemplating to take action against the teachers.
