Deshmukh condoles Banatwala's demise

Mumbai, Jun 25 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today condoled the demise of Indian Union Muslim League president Gulam Mehmood Banatwala, a former Member of Lok Sabha.

In his condolence message, Mr Deshmukh described Banatwala, who was also a member of state Legislative Assembly during 1967 to 1977, as a great politician.

Banatwala passed away in a private hospital here today following a massive heart attack.

According to the family sources, the funeral would take place here tomorrow morning.

Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahmed is expected to attend the funeral, sources said.
