Court remands murder accused to judicial custody

Kozhikode, Jun 25: A local court today remanded a man in a case relating to the murder of a school girl to 14-days judicial custody.

Payyoli Judicial First Class Magistrate Suresh issued the order remanding V Mayan Kutty (45) till July 9 in connection with the murder of a nine-year-old girl, a class IV student of Cherandathur M L P School in this district.

Kutty had yesterday confessed to the police that he had strangled the girl to death while attempting to outrage her modesty.

The body of the girl, who left the school during recess to drink water, was found in a sack on the terrace of Mayankutty's house on Monday.
