Co-pilot granted bail in Airhostess suicide case
Mumbai, Jun 25 (UNI) A sessions court here today granted bail to Arjun Menon, an Indigo Airline co-pilot accused in the airhostess Suchita Anand suicide case.
While granting the bail of Rs 25,000 along with surity by one or two people, the Additional Session Court Judge Vinay Joshi directed Menon not to leave the city for one month from today, furnish his permanent address to investigating officer and attend the local police station on every Sunday, till the chargesheet was filed.
Earlier, Defence advocate Harshad Ponda argued that Suchita and Menon were collegues and used to meet often, but there was no evidence that Menon had abetted her suicide.
Menon (30), was arrested on June 12 on the charges of abetting suicide of the airhostess, who was found hanging in a room of Hotel Palm Grove in western suburb on June 8.
According to the prosecution, Menon was the last person to meet Suchita in the hotel room on the fateful day. Suchita, who had filed a divorce petition in a family court in Delhi, was a good friend of Menon, a divorcee himself. Both had heated argument over marriage issue in the hotel room, following which Sucheta hanged herself, the prosecution said.
