C'garh Govt invokes ESMA against medicos
Raipur, June 25 (UNI) Faced with continued agitation by junior doctors of the Dr Ambedkar Hospital for the past five days, the Chhattisgarh Government invoked provisions of the Essential Services Management Act (ESMA) against them and banned strike.
A government spokesperson told UNI here that the decision was taken after talks with junior doctors ended unconclusively.
Simultaneously, directions had been issued to take strict action against striking doctors.
He said medical facilities in the hospital had come to a standstill due to the strike causing lot of problems for poor patients.
Health Minister Amar Agrawal made efforts for strike to be called off but junior doctors remained adamant forcing the government to take the decision.
