Central Govt employees stage 'half-a-day walk out'
Chennai, Jun 25 (UNI) The Central Government offices in the city wore a deserted look this afternoon as the employees staged a 'half-a-day walk out,' opposing the ''retrograde'' recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission.
Dissatisfied with the Pay Commission recommendations, the Joint Consultative Machinery of the staff gave the call for the agitation, pressing a six-point charter of demands.
They demanded, among other things, recomputation of minimum wages, reconstruction of pay bands, revision of fitment formula, enhancement of increment rate and promotion benefit.
Tension prevailed at the Passport Office, following a clash between the staff and public. Police used force to restore order.
