Amphibious warfare school soon at Kakinada
Kakinada, Jun 25 (UNI) An advanced amphibious warfare school and fleet support complex will soon come up in the port city of Kakinada on the east coast.
As a prelude to the establishment of the school, Minister of State for Defence M M Pallam Raju laid the foundation stone for the Naval enclave near Valasapakala along the coast on the city outskirts yesterday.
The minister said the Navy's presence in Kakinada would enhance the maritime security in the region and contributes to the development of the local economy as well.
Describing the Naval enclave as yet another step towards strengthening of naval presence on the east coast, he said, the region was witnessing a consistent rise in stature with the increasing offshore hydro carbon exploration-related activities, growing maritime trade and consequent rapid development of port facilities.
