Action against aqua company for faking ISI mark
Chennai, June 25 (UNI) The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Southern Regional Office, today launched a search operation to check the misuse of ISI mark in packaged drinking water and seized substantial quantities of materials from the premises of M/s Aqua Deepack Industries here.
A BIS release here said the enforcement search and seizure operations showed that the firm was filling packaged drinking water in 20 litre PET containers with fake ISI mark under the brand name 'Chill'.
As the firm was not having valid license to use the ISI mark, action was being initiated against the offenders. The offence was punishable with imprisonment upto one year or fine upto Rs 50,000 or both as per the BIS Act, 1986.
