Used bullet found in air passenger's bag
Chennai, Jun 24 (UNI) Tension prevailed at the domestic airport here after security personnel found a used bullet in the baggage of one of the passengers bound for Madurai on a Air Deccan Flight this evening.
Airport sources said the beep went off when the baggage, belonging to Dr S Chandrasekar (29), was being scanned putting securitymen on their toes.
A personal check revealed the presence of a used bullet from a .32 pistol in the bag.
However, Dr Chandrasekar, who identified himself as an ophthalmologist and Managing Director of Vasan Eye Care, a leading chain of eye hospitals in Tamil Nadu, said he had a licenced revolver and the bullet must have fallen into the bag accidentally while handling it.
After taking a statement from him, the security personnel allowed him to board the flight. The bullet was later handed over to the Aiport Police.
