Three killed as tipper rips house

Aizawl, Jun 24 (UNI) Three people, including a 20-year-old girl, died as a speeding tipper truck ripped apart a house they were staying in at Bilkhawthlir on the Aizawl-Silchar highway today.

However, one-and-a-half-year-old Mary miraculously escaped unhurt, according to Kolasib police.

There were four people, including the baby in the house when the cement bags-laden truck ran into the house around 1230 hrs.

Those killed were the house owner, R Lalzuiliana, 56, her daughter Sumtinkimi, 20 and his guest Lawmzela.

After crashing the house, the truck fell down the hillside, but the driver and his handyman survived with minor injuries.

According to eyewitnesses, the truck was in high speed although the driver, identified as Nirmal Marangdi, 23, said to police that he fell asleep.
