Suspected Maoist ultras kill businessman's son
Rourkela, June 24 (UNI) Suspected Maoist ultras murdered the son of a businessman at Raibaga under Biramitrapur police station of Sundergarha district.
Police said here today that Mohan Jaiswal (24), son of Basu Jaiswal, was seriously injured after a group of suspected Maoist rebels threw four bombs and fired indiscriminately at their house last night.
Mohan succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital.
Unconfirmed reports said the Jaiswals were attacked as they did not pay Rs 10 lakh demanded by the Maoists a few days back.
However, Sundergarh Superintendent of Police Narasingh Bhol said the police did not have any information about extortion demand.
He said investigation was on to ascertain whether the attackers were Maoist ultras or other miscreants.
Meanwhile, police sounded a red alert in the area and launched a manhunt to nab the miscreants.
