SICCL file contempt petition against LDA in SC
New Delhi, Jun 24 (UNI) Sahara India Commercial Corporation Ltd (SICCL) today moved the Supreme Court seeking contempt of court proceedings against Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) for carrying out demolitions at Sahara Shahr complex in Lucknow in violation of the status quo order passed by the apex court yesterday.
A Vacation Bench comprising Justices Altamash Kabir and G S Singhvi today fixed the petition for a hearing tomorrow after it was mentioned before the apex court for an urgent hearing.
Meanwhile, LDA is also filing a contempt of court petition against SICCL for carrying out constructions despite the status quo order of the apex court passed yesterday.
The court had directed both parties to maintain the status quo in respect of the construction and demolition at Sahara Shahr complex spread over 230 acres of land in the posh locality of Gomati Nagar in Lucknow.
According to the order, none of the parties were supposed to either construct or demolish.
SICCL is going to file the petition during the course of the day and LDA also set to file the petition against SICCL.
The LDA had demolished a hospital and boundary wall which according to them were illegal construction.
Allahabad High Court, however, on June 19 had directed LDA to restore the boundary wall as SICCL was entitled to protect its property.
